Bayer is Germany´s top employer at present according to the "Best Employer 2017" ranking performed for "Focus" magazine by the Statista statistics institute in collaboration with the careers network XING and the employer evaluation platform kununu. For the first time, the 100,000 employees surveyed selected a company from the chemical and pharmaceutical industry as the country´s leading employer. That means employees, apprentices and prospective employees in Germany place Bayer ahead of prestigious companies like Google, Audi, BMW and Airbus.

"I am absolutely delighted by this accolade because it is impressive confirmation of our aspiration to be one of Germany´s best and most attractive employers", says Dr. Hartmut Klusik, the member of Bayer´s Management Board responsible for human resources. "I am particulary proud that this outstanding result is due to a large extent to the views and recommendations of our own employees. I would therefore like to thank all employees who took part in this study, either directly or indirectly, for their positive views on our company", says Klusik.

Gregorio Martin, Human Resources

For the third consecutive year, Bayer has been awarded as the most attractive employer in Spain in the pharmaceuticals industry. This is the result of a survey carried out be the recruitment agency "Randstad". The study is based on the responses of more than 10.500 potential employees. In addition, Bayer is also an employer of choice for Spanish university students: In the annual study "Most Attractive Employers 2016" performed by Universum, Bayer has been ranked second in the category of natural sciences and health. 


Bayer has been recognized as one of India´s Best Employers in 2017

Bayer is one of India´s Best Employers in 2017 according to a study conducted by Aon, a global research consultancy. The 19 winners from 2017 included organizations that drive results through high employee engagement, a compelling employer brand, effective leadership and a high performance culture. The Aon Best Employers program is the most comprehensive studies of its kind in Asia Pacific. The study aims to gain insight into companies that are creating real competitive advantage through their people, to explore what makes a workplace of choice and to identify the Best Employers.


Bayer China has been recognized for Best Employer in China

Bayer China has been recognized for Best Employer in China. THis is the result of the "Aon Hewitt/ LinkedIn Best Employers China 2016" study. The basis for this result are interviews with HR Professionals, an external market view on Bayer as employer and the responses of more than 1.500employees. In addition, Bayer also swept four best employer awards generally acknowledged by the domestic Industry this year, including Randstad Award as Best Employer in Pharmaceutical/Cemical Industry, 51job Best Human Resource Management Company (Best Employee Development Plan Company), zhaopin.com Top 100 Best Employer Award (Best Environment Employer Award) and dajie.com Best Employer.


Laurent Mozzo, DRH Bayer in France

Bayer France obtained the Top Employer label for the second year in a row. The label recognizes the excellence of the company´s human resources policies. It is awarded by the "Top Employers Institute", an independent organization that analyses the HR policies and benefits of large companies throughout the world and compares them to an international standard. To obtain the label, companies must complete a detailed HR Best Practices survey that examines several criteria such as workforce planning, leadership development, compensation and benefits and company culture.


Bayer in Mexico: Top Company 2016

Bayer México recently has been named as a Top Company 2016 to work for. The company has been ranked 12th in the category "500 to 3000 employees" climbing eight positions from the 2013 ranking. The award ist granted by "Expansión", a prestigious Business Magazine in México which annually publishes the list of "Súper Empresas: the workplaces where everybody wants to work for". This year 178 companies were ranked among the three different categories of companies, grouped by the number of employees they have. Companies participating are evaluated through the methodology of Top Companies run by a consultant firm specialized in culture and employee engagement.

Our Contribution to Society

Sustainability and social responsibility have always been key topics in our efforts to adapt to a changing world. To contribute to society’s future viability, we make investments in the areas of science and education, health, social needs, and community projects. This commitment is an integral element of Bayer’s corporate policy. Some of our ongoing activities include:

  • The Bayer Early Excellence in Science Award, presented annually to talented young scientists in the early stages of their academic careers;
  • A collaboration with the Chinese government aimed at promoting advanced training for physicians in rural, medically underserved areas of western China;
  • A fund to encourage recreational, disabled, and competitive sports activities in Germany.

Disaster aid is another area of activity for our social needs foundation. As an example, in the wake of the 2012 earthquake in Sichuan province, China, Bayer responded to the emergency with an extensive aid program. The Bayer Cares Foundation launched several projects to rebuild the community, including an initiative to restore a devastated college campus in the city of Dujiangyan.


Bayer Foundations

The origin of the Bayer foundations goes back to Friedrich Bayer, who laid the cornerstone for the company's first foundation activities already in 1897.


Today there are two Bayer foundations: the Bayer Science & Education Foundation, which supports science and education by improving school programs, promoting young scientists, and honoring outstanding research; and the Bayer Cares Foundation, which seeks to improve living conditions through social initiatives, including healthcare and disaster relief.

The foundations support innovators in science, education, and social welfare, thus improving lives today and into the future.
